The latest ‘Global Goal Challenge’ became part of the Global Goal Attacker Zone at The Edinburgh Corn Exchange during the Feb half term with Juniors (7-11 year olds) and Seniors (12-15 year olds) battling it out to showcase their soccer skills. The top three from each group then had to play off before the grand finals, and in front of FA accredited coaches – with the winner taking home the major prize of a Global Goal. Each challenge integrated the heading and finishing practices demonstrated on the GG website. A point would be awarded for every successful header and if they managed to turn on the ball and have an attempt on goal, the points value would increase. World of Football Coaches invented a new team game for the next challenge, which was successfully played by all ages: Using the width of the pitch, with one team attacking and one defending, each player on the attacking team had to fire a ball at the centre of the rolling GG. Every player received a point for hitting the opposing wall, 2 points for hitting the GG – and 10 points for scoring in the centre piece. When all the balls had been struck, it was the opposing teams turn. Zeus Duriel Jiminez, Age 11 overcame stiff opposition to become the Edinburgh ‘Global Goal Challenge’ Champion, and said
Johnny Whiteman, Age 14
Daniel Shields, Age 15
Isaac Ansell-Forsyth, Age 15
